He knew, without needing to hear another word, that she had given it to her daughter.
Part 2: A Stranger’s Quiet Kindness
Arthur had spent decades surrounded by people who wanted his attention, approval, or financial support, and although he was respected in business circles, he sometimes wondered how many of those relationships would survive if his fortune disappeared.
Yet here was a woman with almost nothing, giving everything she could to someone she loved without expecting recognition or reward.
He quietly motioned for the waitress.
“Would you mind bringing that young lady a proper dinner?” he asked. “Something warm, with vegetables and bread. And please put their entire bill on mine.”
The waitress followed his glance toward THE table.
“That’s very kind of you, sir.” “I’d appreciate it if you didn’t mention me.”
Several minutes later, the waitress placed a plate of roasted chicken, mashed potatoes, and green beans in front of the young mother, who immediately looked confused.
“I’m sorry, I think there’s been a mistake. I didn’t order this.” “It’s already been taken care of,” the waitress explained gently. “By whom?”
The waitress hesitated, then glanced toward Arthur before she could stop herself.
